RECRUITMENT FOR 'DIRECTOR - EVENTS'
POSITION DETAILS
As part of our Corporate Communications organisation, we are currently looking for a suitable candidate for the position of Director - Events. This position can be based either in Lund (Sweden) or Modena (Italy), reporting to the Vice President for External Communications.
This position will play a critical role in developing and driving a strategic approach to events globally, building a corporate platform and structure to enhance the user experience, driving efficiencies and lifting the execution standards of events throughout the world. In addition to this, the candidate will be required to lead the planning and
implementation of all global events, with senior stakeholder management.
While it is an individual contributor role with no direct reports, it will get ample support from external agencies as well as from local Communications teams in various markets across the world.
This position would have a high degree of exposure to senior leadership teams within the function and outside, resulting in solid professional development as well as significant visibility in the Centre as well as the regions.
The role could require travel for up to 25% of the working time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will be the company-wide expert/ specialist/ go-to person on events with exemplary domain knowledge, and the ability to:
-Build a comprehensive events strategy, linking it to the business and functional objectives.
-Lay down the approach to assess our participation in various events and define their scope.
-Deliver a common corporate platform and structure for various kinds of events, including exhibition and design toolkits for application in the regions/ markets.
-Counsel and actively support the regions in planning/ execution of events, leveraging internal and external best practices.
-Lead planning and implementation of all global events with end-to-end project and stakeholder management
-Design and drive process improvements and efficiencies in managing events.
-Improve tracking and measurement of events, taking charge of asset and supplier management.
REQUIRED SKILLS
-Solid competence and proven track record in driving complex, large scale events with strong project management skills and the ability to innovate.
-Business mindset with the ability to understand the business & functional strategy, and contribute towards it
-Strong leadership capabilities to exercise informal influence over Communications team members across the world
-Ability to work effectively with senior leadership, and with multi-national, cross cultural, and cross functional teams, often using virtual channels
-Highly driven, self-motivated and able to work independently in a matrix organisation.
-Strong result orientation with the ability to prioritise, multi-task and align multiple stakeholders in the central, regional and local teams (as needed)
-Fluent in English, both verbal and written
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-Relevant education in Communications, Business or Marketing
-Around 15 years of experience, preferably in multi-national companies, with hands-on experience of leading events
-Understanding of digital and other communication channels is important
